Resolved Question: Why does the Chevy Volt in Canada go farther than the Chevy Volt in the US?

In the US the commercials say it goes 35Miles on a single charge but in Canada I saw a commercial that said it went as far as you want? The reason I ask is that when I saw the movie "Who killed the electric car" the told about a battery that who patent was purchased by the gas companies that went 300 miles on a charge.
